## Description

Orchidex is a platform for exploring orchid species and hybrids, with a focus on helping users understand their ancestry and the people and organizations involved in growing and discovering them. Its tools include hybrid search, advanced search, and a hybridizer tool, alongside an Explore page featuring data visualizations such as genus dominance and registrant dominance. Users can also browse recently registered orchids and view updates about new features and offerings.

Orchidex presents orchid information for nonprofit educational purposes and draws on data from The International Orchid Register, provided by the Royal Horticultural Society, and the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, provided by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The platform also invites users to support its work and offers Orchidex-branded merchandise, including a t-shirt available through Charlia Orchids. By combining searchable records, ancestry visualization, and information about orchid contributors, Orchidex offers enthusiasts and learners an accessible way to discover the diversity and history of orchids.
