## Description

Oregon Wildlife Institute (OWI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on conserving wildlife through research, planning, and education. It works in partnership with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations, drawing on staff experience in wildlife and habitat conservation. Its work includes field studies, wildlife population analyses, habitat restoration monitoring, and conservation planning.

OWI’s expertise spans landscape ecology and analysis, monitoring wildlife populations and habitats, and population ecology. The organization uses approaches such as demography, occupancy estimation, and modeling, and supports conservation decisions through species assessments, habitat analyses, geographic information systems, and cartography. Its programs address species at risk and working landscapes, alongside conservation planning and education and outreach.

The institute also highlights conservation work concerning the kit fox, an elusive mammal in Oregon for which much remains to be learned. Its website features past work in Bahía de los Ángeles and invites donations; contributions are tax deductible. Through research, technical analysis, and educational efforts, OWI supports partners working to understand wildlife populations and conserve habitats.
