# Ornitho

- **Website:** <https://ornitho.de>
- **Primary alias:** `ornitho.de`

## Description

They provide a shared platform where users can submit bird observations, consult recent sightings, explore distribution information, and view photographs and sound recordings. The portals also offer tools and guidance for recording observations, including complete observation lists, species information, statistics, publications, and resources for monitoring and research projects.

Their purpose is to collect bird-life data and make it available in verified form for scientific evaluation and nature conservation. The platforms also connect people interested in birds, encourage engagement with avifauna, and support environmental education. Users can participate in monitoring close to home, follow news and events, and access guidance on submitting useful, accurate records.

ornitho.de is run by the Dachverband Deutscher Avifaunisten (DDA), while ornitho.lu is run by natur&ëmwelt. Both work with national ornithological associations, regional and local groups, and nature conservation authorities. The projects also invite donations to support their work.
