## Description

The OrthoCarolina Research Institute (OCRI) is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing orthopedic care through research, innovation, and education. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, it combines academic research with clinical research services, enabling physician researchers to investigate practical questions arising from patient care and study emerging technologies. Its work spans foot and ankle, hand and wrist, hip and knee, pediatrics, spine, and sports medicine. OCRI aims to improve treatment options, patient outcomes, quality of life, and the efficiency of medical care, while sharing its findings with healthcare professionals and the wider community. A key focus is research into opioid-free surgery and pain management, alongside broader musculoskeletal studies intended to help patients return to activities they value. The institute also supports medical education through events and professional learning, and offers career and internship opportunities. As a tax-exempt nonprofit, OCRI invites donations and sponsorships to support its research and educational initiatives, including events such as Oscar Miller Day.
