## Description

Orūs namai is a Lithuanian social project that creates safe, affordable housing for older people who have lost their homes or can no longer live safely and comfortably where they are. Run by the public institution VšĮ Orūs namai, it offers fully equipped one-room apartments for rent on terms more favorable than the market. The homes are intended for seniors who can live independently, rather than people requiring nursing or residential care. Residents have private apartments as well as shared spaces for meeting and activities, and help is available when needed without staff directing their daily lives.

The first building opened in Vilnius in 2018, with four apartments in the Karoliniškės district. A second opened in Krokialaukis, Alytus district, in 2023, with six apartments. Both buildings are fully occupied, and the project reports a waiting list. Orūs namai is renovating a building in Vabalninkas, Biržai district, to create 11 more apartments. Supporters can contribute donations to help develop these homes and expand access to secure, dignified housing for seniors.
