## Description

Osprey is a free, open-source browser protection brand focused on making safer browsing accessible to individuals and organizations without compromising privacy. Its lightweight extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge automatically checks websites against up to 22 threat intelligence sources, helping block phishing pages, malware, fraudulent stores, dangerous downloads, and other scams. When a site is identified as dangerous, Osprey displays a warning; safe pages load normally.

Created in October 2024, Osprey aims to offer a transparent alternative to relying on a browser’s built-in protection or installing multiple security extensions. It requires no account or personal information, does not collect browsing history, and says its proxy server does not log users’ IP addresses. Users can customize protection providers, manage exclusions, and report false positives. Osprey does not block advertisements or inspect and modify page contents, so it can work alongside existing ad blockers and antivirus software. For businesses, the Osprey Management Console supports device enrollment, centralized browser policies, and fleet dashboards, reports, and alerts.
