## Description

The Otago Branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association is a volunteer-run community supporting hunters and shooters across the Otago region. It promotes hunting access and firearms rights, safe and ethical hunting, conservation projects, pest control, and hunter education. Its HUNTS programme helps newcomers build hunting knowledge and skills, while annual competitions recognise members’ hunting achievements, trophies, and photography.

The branch offers practical facilities and activities for members. The Chaz Forsyth Rifle Range in Leith Valley provides 25, 50, and 100-metre shooting, and is generally open on Saturdays. The Blue Mountains Lodge near Beaumont offers 28 beds across a bunkhouse and private huts, providing a base for trips. Members can also take part in organised annual goat and deer hunts, as well as tahr and wallaby hunts.

Regular branch meetings feature guest speakers, trip reports, hunt planning, and club updates. The Otago Branch welcomes members and visitors to its Dunedin clubrooms and invites people interested in hunting, shooting, education, or conservation to learn more and join.
