## Description

The Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) is a nonprofit consortium of approximately 50 universities, colleges, and research institutions around the world. Founded in 1963, it works to advance education, research, and responsible use of natural resources in the tropics. OTS operates in three countries, with research stations and educational programs in Costa Rica and South Africa, and has a long history of supporting tropical biology and ecology.

The organization offers undergraduate and graduate programs, online courses, field practicums, faculty-led programs, and opportunities in environmental sciences and policy. Its research services include access to research sites and stations, permits, information resources, research visits, and graduate fellowships. Visitors can also take part in natural history experiences and BioCursos, and explore destinations including La Selva, Las Cruces and Wilson Botanical Garden, Palo Verde, and Skukuza.

Through education, scientific discovery, and policy engagement, OTS aims to sustain tropical ecosystems, deepen understanding of nature, and inform decisions affecting the tropics. It also welcomes donations and offers ways for supporters, alumni, and institutions to get involved.
