Originally conceived as a 7-level complex, Охотный ряд was designed to feature an architectural museum, historical theater, children's play center, art salon, cinema, restaurants, shops, banks, and offices. However, in order to expedite returns, the project evolved, and the focus shifted more towards the commercial aspect. Under the guidance of architect Mikhail Posokhin and renowned designer Zurab Tsereteli, the final design of Охотный ряд incorporated elegant terraces, connected by staircases and balustrades, reminiscent of traditional Russian trading rows.

Opened in 1997, Охотный ряд has gained recognition for its unique architectural design and functionality. It was awarded the prestigious MIPIM AWARDS in the same year.
