About
Description
Ozark Literacy Council (OLC) is the oldest and largest literacy council in the state of Arkansas. Established in 1964 as the Fayetteville Company of Compassion, OLC has been providing free literacy programs and resources to the community for over five decades. Their mission is to build a welcoming, inclusive, and empowered community through literacy.
OLC offers a wide range of services to address the needs of adults seeking to improve their literacy skills. They provide four levels of one-on-one tutoring and classes in Adult Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) at different proficiency levels. The programs cover various subjects including language, civic literacy, financial literacy, health literacy, and workforce literacy.
With the help of dedicated volunteers, OLC served 400 adults in 2019, assisting them in achieving their goals such as finding better job opportunities, securing financial stability for their families, and obtaining U. S. Students from 50 different countries have benefited from OLC's programs, creating a diverse and multicultural learning environment.
OLC is committed to ensuring that everyone in Northwest Arkansas possesses the literacy and community building skills necessary to connect and contribute to the world. Join OLC and become part of their mission to empower individuals through literacy. Connect with them today to sign up for news and updates or to get involved as a volunteer or donor
