## Description

The Programme d’Appui au Développement Sanitaire (PADS) is a health-sector financing programme in Burkina Faso, established in January 2005 as a successor to a project supporting health districts and regional health directorates. Its general objective is to help finance the effective implementation of the country’s National Health Development Plan. PADS uses a results-based management approach and directs funding across the health system, including community-based health workers, private-sector participants, nongovernmental organisations and other community actors.

The programme manages and supports health grants and implementation activities with national and local partners. Its work includes funding for tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment, malaria control and health-system resilience, as well as participation in the SWEDD initiative, which addresses women’s empowerment and demographic challenges in the Sahel. Activities reported on its website include training, grant oversight, budget and work-plan reviews, and coordination with health authorities and partners. PADS also shares programme results, annual reports, publications, news and information about funding opportunities. Its offices are in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
