## Description

Palio di Paluzza is the annual celebration of Carnia’s heritage, centred on the Palio das Cjarogiules, a traditional event organised by the cultural association Giovins di Chenti with support from local institutions. Held in Paluzza, the festival brings together 15 contrade, representing local villages and neighbourhoods, to honour the region’s history and community traditions. Its name recalls the cjarogiule, a wooden hauling frame with wheels and a shaft, and the louze, a wooden sled once used to carry household goods through the mountains. The programme includes a procession through the town, competitions between the contrade, and community gathering places where visitors can experience each group’s character and traditions. The website shares event programmes and news, photographs, information about the participating contrade, past editions and winners, local accommodation, and details about the surrounding territory. The Palio also connects residents and visitors with Carnia’s culture, landscapes, and local partners. Its 40th edition is scheduled for 8–9 August 2026.
