## Description

Holtec Palisades is an 800-megawatt nuclear power facility in Covert, Michigan, owned by Holtec International. After shutting down in May 2022 with plans for decommissioning, the plant is now being prepared for a potential restart. Holtec says renewed operation would provide Michigan with a clean, reliable source of electricity while supporting regional employment and economic activity. The proposed restart is presented as a way to create opportunities for skilled tradespeople and professionals, sustain local commerce, and contribute to the community.

Palisades is part of Holtec International, a company whose broader portfolio spans clean-energy solutions, nuclear fuel and waste management, heat-transfer equipment, and nuclear technologies. Its services include decommissioning, manufacturing, civil construction, site services, and engineering and consulting. The Palisades website also provides information on the restart program, public meetings, emergency preparedness, community benefits, and regulatory documents, including filings with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Holtec describes the project as an effort to extend the plant’s role in delivering dependable, emissions-free power and supporting Michigan’s energy needs.
