About

Description

The Center for Palladian Studies in America is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to researching and promoting understanding of the renowned Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and his influence in the United States. Founded in 1979, the Center organizes symposia, lectures, and study tours on Palladian topics, publishes books and a periodical, sponsors exhibitions, and provides grants to scholars and UVA students studying Palladio. With a history dating back to 1980, the Center was established by the late Mario di Valmarana to educate students, architects, and enthusiasts about Palladio's impact on American architecture.

Palladio's theories were introduced to America in the 18th century and influenced prominent colonial architects like Thomas Jefferson. The Center also offers scholarship programs, including the opportunity for students at the UVA School of Architecture to study in Vicenza. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations to the Center are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
