## Description

The Palmetto Riflemen & New York Zouaves is an American Civil War reenacting and living history organization founded in November 2002. Based in Lexington, South Carolina, it brings together members from South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina to preserve and share the history, traditions, and experiences of people who lived through the Civil War era, particularly from 1860 to 1865. The organization focuses on everyday soldiers and civilians, using historical interpretation to help the public understand their lives and service.

Its activities include battle reenactments, living history events, parades, grave dedications, educational presentations, school programs, historic tours, cemetery cleanups, and visits to battlefields and museums. The group also sponsors or hosts local events and collaborates with other historical organizations in support of its educational and preservation goals. Whether participating in events across the country or engaging with local communities, the Palmetto Riflemen & New York Zouaves offers opportunities for people interested in Civil War history, reenacting, and living history to learn, take part, and connect with the past.
