## Description

PARD Therapeutic Riding is a volunteer-run, registered charity serving the Peterborough, Ontario area. Established in 1983, the organization provides assisted horseback riding for people of all ages and abilities who may benefit from therapeutic riding. Its program aims to support riders’ physical, social, and psychological well-being while building confidence, skills, and ability on horseback.

Each lesson is taught by a qualified instructor certified through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA), with assistance from volunteers. Instructors develop individualized programs to address each rider’s unique needs. The assisted riding season typically runs from June to August, while independent riders can participate for an extended season.

PARD also hosts community events and fundraisers, including a games show and progressive euchre event, and welcomes volunteers for lesson nights, special events, and board service; horse experience is not required. Donations and sponsorships help sustain its programs. The charity recognizes the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg and the Williams Treaties, and expresses a commitment to ongoing learning, listening to Indigenous voices, and reconciliation.
