## Description

The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) is the regional authority responsible for planning, developing, supporting and promoting public transit across the Montréal metropolitan area. Its territory includes 82 municipalities, the Kahnawake reserve and the City of Saint-Jérôme. Working with transit organizations, the ARTM coordinates regional mobility efforts and supports the development of an accessible, resilient network.

Its responsibilities span metropolitan transit planning, network organization, funding and public promotion. The authority provides information on fares, fare zones, OPUS cards, sales outlets, park-and-ride facilities and adapted transport services. It also offers tools to help passengers choose tickets, plan journeys and manage transit payments, including the Chrono mobile app, which supports trip planning, real-time schedule tracking and OPUS card reloading.

The ARTM oversees and promotes major mobility initiatives, including bus rapid transit projects, the REM, the Blue Line extension and river shuttles. It also advances fare-system modernization, conducts mobility research and shares service updates, project information and public announcements for the Montréal region.
