## Description

Paro is an innovative therapeutic robot designed to provide emotional support and engagement for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, and other cognitive disorders. Developed in 2004 by Dr. Takanori Shibata, this lifelike robotic seal has been a transformative presence in care facilities worldwide, helping to alleviate anxiety, stress, and depression. Paro fosters connection through playful interaction, making it an essential tool in enhancing quality of life for both patients and caregivers.

This soft and cuddly companion features multiple interactive sensors that respond to touch, sound, and posture, making interactions uniquely engaging. Paro’s ability to stimulate emotional responses not only lifts moods but also encourages socialization, improving communication skills and reducing feelings of isolation. It is particularly beneficial in palliative and hospice care, providing comfort during difficult times.

Available in the UK and Republic of Ireland through Sense Medical, Paro represents a non-pharmacological approach to care with the potential to create shared experiences and strengthen bonds between caregivers and patients.
