## Description

Participations is a renowned brand in the field of audience and reception studies. Founded in 2003 by Professor Martin Barker, Participations aimed to provide a platform for scholars to publish their research in an area that was often overlooked or dismissed by other journals. Determined to create a space for discussion and collaboration, Participations focused on including work from all fields of media and culture, encompassing a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives. As the journal evolved, it not only kept up with emerging trends in audience and reception research but also played a role in promoting these developments. With the rise of new media and the increasing interest in fan studies, Participations recognized the need for a space that would explore these topics and spark meaningful debates. Today, Participations stands as one of the longest-running online-only journals, publishing over 400 essays since its launch. The journal's distinctive approach includes open refereeing, fostering a culture of critical support and improvement. Furthermore, Participations actively seeks to promote understanding and collaboration between academic research and the commercial world, particularly in the realm of Big Data. Through its inclusive and innovative approach, Participations continues to make significant contributions to the field of audience and reception studies.
