## Description

The International Foundation for Patient Blood Management (IFPBM) supports the development and wider use of evidence-based Patient Blood Management (PBM). It describes PBM as a patient-centered approach to improving outcomes by managing and preserving a patient’s own blood while promoting safety and patient empowerment. The Foundation’s work includes generating, collecting, sharing, and helping implement PBM knowledge and resources.

IFPBM provides educational materials for both health professionals and the public, including articles, videos, textbooks, guidelines, and conference resources. Its searchable articles database is organized into more than 60 subject areas, covering topics such as anemia, iron, transfusion alternatives, critical care, obstetrics, and blood conservation. Teaching videos introduce PBM concepts, explore its three pillars, and examine specialized roles in practice. The Foundation also connects users with experienced PBM speakers and offers access to practitioners for consultation and collaboration. Scientific Associates review its guidelines and other professional resources for accuracy and relevance. Through these services, IFPBM aims to make PBM learning and expertise more accessible.
