## Description

Paulo Gala / Economia & Finanças is the professional and educational platform of economist Paulo Gala, focused on explaining economic ideas and examining Brazil’s development. Gala graduated in Economics from FEA-USP, earned a master’s and doctorate from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo, and holds the CGA-Anbima credential. He has been a visiting researcher at the universities of Cambridge and Columbia, worked as an economist, fund manager and CEO in São Paulo’s financial sector, and teaches at FGV-SP and Florida International University in Miami.

The platform publishes articles and books on economics, finance, economic development, inequality, industrial policy and the Brazilian economy. Its learning offerings include courses designed to make economics accessible to non-specialists, such as a ten-lesson course on understanding Brazil and Economia sem Economês. The site also features investment-focused educational content, mentoring and speaking engagements. Gala’s latest book, Brasil, uma economia que não aprende, reflects the platform’s interest in why Brazil has struggled to reach the level of a wealthy nation.
