## Description

The Old Montana Prison & Auto Museum Complex, operated by the local nonprofit Powell County Museum and Arts Foundation, offers visitors a window into Montana’s history in Deer Lodge. The complex brings together five attractions across buildings on three blocks, including the Old Montana Prison Museum, Montana Auto Collection, Frontier Montana, Yesterday’s Playthings, and Powell County Museum. Visitors can explore the former prison, view more than 168 classic cars, and discover vintage toys, World War II artifacts, and other historical collections. The site is open daily and offers ways to plan a visit, including guided group and school tours, ghost tours, interactive lockdown experiences, and after-hours tours. Seasonal events include Terror in the Cellhouse, while the annual “Win A Classic” car raffle adds another attraction. The complex also features a convention center and gift shop, with an online store for shopping. Through memberships, donations, artifact donations, and volunteer opportunities, the organization invites the community to support its work preserving and sharing local history.
