## Description

PDA North America is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting people who identify with Pathological Demand Avoidance, also known by many as Pervasive Drive for Autonomy, and the families and professionals around them. Established in March 2020, the organization describes PDA as a nervous system difference and, for many, an autism profile. It works to improve understanding of PDA, which it says is often misunderstood or misdiagnosed and is not a distinct diagnosis in the DSM-5 or ICD-11. Its mission is to advance support through resources, education, advocacy, and community, while centering the lived experiences of PDA individuals and welcoming people with or without a formal diagnosis. Offerings include practical guides and free downloads, webinars, pre-recorded trainings, a learning lab, and educational programs for families, educators, and therapists. Topics include communication, co-regulation, sibling dynamics, education, and therapy options. The organization also hosts an annual conference and provides community connections through peer support groups, directories, and a community map.
