## Description

PEN Català, established in 1922, is a dedicated advocate for freedom of expression and linguistic rights, promoting the rich literary heritage of Catalonia while fostering intercultural dialogue. With a commitment to safeguarding the rights of authors, PEN Català supports threatened writers through its two-year residency program, providing a safe haven for those at risk due to their work. The organization also plays a pivotal role in promoting literary translation, facilitating the flow of literature across languages and supporting the dissemination of Catalan literature globally.

Additionally, PEN Català actively pursues the affirmation of linguistic rights, having initiated the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights, endorsed by numerous PEN centers, NGOs, and linguistic experts worldwide. The organization monitors human rights violations against writers, editors, and journalists, organizing campaigns to support them. By subscribing to its newsletter or becoming a member, individuals can join PEN's mission to champion linguistic diversity and uphold the fundamental right to free expression.
