Pennywell is a zero-based envelope budgeting service designed for managing money in Canadian dollars. It helps users give every dollar a purpose by assigning funds to categories such as bills, groceries, dining and savings goals. Budgets can be managed manually through a monthly grid or with an optional AI assistant that can assign money and move it between categories. Each action is recorded in a shared history and can be reversed by name, while safeguards prevent outdated undo requests from reversing the wrong change. Destructive actions require confirmation.

Pennywell also supports imports from YNAB, restoring monthly assignments and checking imported totals before anything is saved. Its features include spending reports, category targets, transaction and account management, and tools for reviewing overspending and underfunded goals. The budget, imports and assistant connector are free. Pennywell’s built-in assistant is available with a free trial, with continued access through Pennywell Plus, offered for US$4.99 per month or US$39.99 per year. The company says it does not sell user data.
