## Description

PerioTrap Pharmaceuticals is a clinical stage Biotech company that is dedicated to eradicating the root cause of periodontitis, an inflammation of the gums primarily caused by a shift in the oral microbiome. As a global health issue affecting 20-50% of the population, periodontitis is not only painful but also associated with co-morbidities such as diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. Unlike current treatments that involve the complete removal of the oral biofilm, PerioTrap offers a groundbreaking solution. They have developed an innovative anti-infective drug that selectively targets disease-causing pathogens, leaving the beneficial bacteria undisturbed. By preserving the natural biofilm and supporting the commensal bacteria, PerioTrap aims to restore a healthy balance in the oral microbiome and prevent disease recurrence. Led by a team of experienced professionals with a strong background in drug development, PerioTrap combines expertise in medicinal chemistry, compound characterization, microbiology, and management. Supported by esteemed advisors from various fields, including protein biotechnology and pharmaceutical technology, PerioTrap continues to make significant strides in the field of periodontitis treatment.
