## Description

Peripécia Teatro is a theatre company founded in 2004 and based in Vila Real, Portugal, where it has been established since 2007. Celebrating two decades of work in 2024, the company draws on theatrical traditions and the teachings of influential theatre-makers while developing a contemporary style centered on the expressive possibilities of actors’ bodies and voices. Its productions bring together comedy and emotional storytelling, often addressing difficult subjects with an irreverent perspective.

The company’s repertoire includes original plays such as Fardo, dESConectados, LOBA, IBÉRIA and Húúúmus!!!, alongside projects for different audiences and formats. Its activities extend beyond stage productions to include professional training for performers, workshops in areas such as mask-making and Butoh, and educational theatre programmes. Peripécia Teatro also produces audiobooks through its ContoContigo collection and presents cultural initiatives that connect art with rural places and communities, including Lua Cheia, Arte na Aldeia. Its work is supported by a multidisciplinary team of performers, creators, musicians, producers and technical staff.
