## Description

Permaculture Australia is a brand that encompasses a design system for the creation of socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable settlements, whether in rural areas or metropolitan cities. Founded by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the late 1970s, Permaculture has revolutionized the way we think, act, and design strategies for a more sustainable future. Bill Mollison was instrumental in setting up Tagari Publications, which produced books on Permaculture, and established the Permaculture Institute. David Holmgren, on the other hand, established a rural smallholding and permaculture education center called Melliodora in Victoria. Permaculture promotes a do-it-yourself approach, transforming households into energy-efficient, food-producing, and resource-conserving spaces. However, it also emphasizes the importance of community involvement, recognizing that working together is essential to achieving the scale of change required to address contemporary sustainability challenges. By inspiring people to take action in their own communities, Permaculture provides a framework for redesigning our thinking and actions, ultimately leading to improved quality of life and a more sustainable future.
