The Public Health Communication Centre (PHCC) is a dedicated organization focused on increasing the accessibility and impact of public health research. As witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic, clear communication from public health experts to policymakers and the community is crucial. The PHCC aims to enhance various aspects of Aotearoa, including future pandemic response, climate change adaptation, water and air quality management, substance abuse prevention, and economic support. To achieve these goals, the PHCC offers The Briefing, its flagship publication, which presents new research, commentary, and analysis in a more accessible way. Supported by the Gama Foundation, the PHCC collaborates with media organizations and policymakers, operating strategically alongside like-minded individuals and organizations. Hosted by the University of Otago's Department of Public Health, the PHCC is an independent entity with a strong purpose—to effectively communicate public health research evidence, ultimately improving the health, well-being, equity of the people, and the environment of Aotearoa New Zealand.
