## Description

Philly Typewriter is a Philadelphia shop dedicated to restoring, preserving, and sharing typewriters. Combining engineering expertise with historical knowledge, its team repairs machines of many ages and styles, addressing issues such as rust, worn rubber components, damaged finishes, and decades of disuse. Restorations range from specialized cleaning to custom fabrication, with the aim of returning each typewriter to reliable working condition.

The shop also sells a broad selection of restored, pre-owned typewriters for beginners, collectors, and experienced typists. Its range includes pre-war desktops and portables, European portables and ultra-portables, mid-century and late-era American models, electric typewriters, and IBM Selectrics. Customers can contact the shop to arrange a visit and explore available machines. Restoration consultations are offered by appointment.

Beyond repairs and sales, Philly Typewriter supports typewriter education and community access through its Philadelphia Public Typewriter Program, founded in 2018. The initiative places machines in public spaces such as schools, libraries, cafés, and bookstores, helping more people experience typing.
