A peer-reviewed study conducted by Dr. Sloan-Aagard titled The Impact of Community Health Information Exchange Usage on Time to Reutilization of Hospital Services found that the use of PHIX's health information exchange was associated with a significant increase in the length of time before patients were re-admitted to the emergency department (from 99 to 238 days). Additionally, the likelihood of patient re-admission to the emergency department decreased by 53% and re-hospitalizations decreased by 61%. By subscribing to PHIX and gaining access to their health information exchange, healthcare providers can decrease the risk of patient readmission, ultimately improving patient care and reducing healthcare costs.
