## Description

PHOEBE HERstory Rising is a Hague-based cultural platform and foundation bringing artistic expression and women’s history together. Its mission is to make overlooked women’s lives visible and reshape historical narratives through art, education, activism, and research. Rather than treating forgotten women as curiosities, the organisation presents their stories as an essential correction to history.

Its work includes the Wendelmoet Sessions, intimate events pairing female musicians with stories about historical women, as well as lectures, workshops, and archival research that bring discoveries to public audiences. The foundation also publishes a bilingual Substack newsletter every Tuesday, featuring book excerpts, archival findings, and stories of women long left out of the record. Its projects connect music, performance, and visual art with education and community-building, in collaboration with archives and arts institutions.

A central project is Zie Mij Staan, a hybrid novel weaving the story of Trijn Jacobs’s 1655 journey to free Geertje Dircx with the author’s own experience. Launched in September 2026, the book explores friendship, courage, and women nearly forgotten by history.
