## Description

PhysicsCentral was a public outreach initiative of the American Physical Society (APS), created to communicate the excitement and importance of physics. For more than 20 years, it helped make physics accessible to the public. PhysicsCentral was retired on September 30, 2022, but APS continues to support public engagement through other programs.

These initiatives offer resources and opportunities for students, educators, researchers, and physicists. PhysicsQuest introduces students to basic physics concepts through engaging experiments and classroom materials. STEP UP brings together physics teachers, researchers, and professional societies to develop high school lessons that empower teachers, encourage cultural change, and inspire young women to study physics in college. Physicists To-Go connects classrooms with working physicists to build science literacy and spark students’ interest in science.

APS also supports the Wiki Scientist Program, which helps physicists expand public access to physics knowledge and highlight the contributions of marginalized groups. The Science Trust Project addresses science misinformation, while a webinar series helps the physics community strengthen its public communication skills.
