## Description

Piano Day Aalborg is a local celebration of the piano, bringing music, history, storytelling and theatre together in an annual event. Its 2026 programme, “Sprit, tobak og slidte tangenter” (“Spirits, tobacco and worn-out keys”), explores Aalborg’s lively past, from its historic taverns and social gatherings to the city’s changing cultural life in the 1970s. Inspired by the book Det Glade Aalborg and research into the city’s music venues, the event combines historical accounts and local memories with live performance.

Participants are guided through locations including Duus and Aalborg Kloster, with contributions from historian Inger Bladt, piano tuner Finn Bo Møller, Flemming Møller Mortensen and author Rasmus Prehn. The theatrical elements are created by actor and writer William Halken with students, while pianists Enrico Salvatucci, Erik Christensen, Henrik Gunde and Søren Lundbye-Christensen, alongside bassist Thomas Fonnesbæk, provide the music. The programme concludes with a piano concert at the Center for Dansk Jazzhistorie.
