## Description

Pieter Lategan | STUDIO is a creative practice based in Pretoria, South Africa, bringing together visual art, design, fashion and studio research. Led by artist and designer Pieter Lategan, the studio explores contemporary work through drawing, digital studies, handmade objects and clothing prototypes. Its guiding ideas include Silent Monumentalism, with an emphasis on structure, silence, weight, space, material presence and human presence.

The studio develops practical and decorative products, including handmade festive decorations and coordinated fabric hair accessories. Its work also includes menswear design, such as prototype garments, alongside original artworks and ongoing visual studies. A sketchbook and studio notes document the development process, materials, decisions and research behind selected projects.

Pieter Lategan | STUDIO is also developing a Real Art Access and Value Standard: a working framework for documenting, presenting and placing original human-made artwork. The initiative focuses on authorship, process, provenance and clear records, with the aim of helping people discover and understand original art for homes, workplaces and other interiors.
