## Description

PigBoats.COM is a dedicated digital archive celebrating the rich history of the United States Navy Submarine Service from 1900 to 1941. Established in 1998 by veterans Ric Hedman and Dave Johnston, the website is a comprehensive photographic essay that emphasizes the early submarines and the courageous men who served aboard them. While it primarily focuses on the pre-World War II era, it occasionally explores later developments in submarine technology and naval history.

Visitors to PigBoats.COM will find a wealth of resources, including extensive galleries of submarine classes, historical narratives, and firsthand accounts of life beneath the waves. The site features colorized images, enhancing the visual impact of its collection and offering a fresh perspective on this often-overlooked chapter of naval history. Additionally, it serves as a platform for other historians’ contributions and hosts an exclusive list of commanding officers of non-nuclear submarines.

Self-funded and advertisement-free, PigBoats.COM is a heartfelt tribute to the submariners who became the elite of the United States Navy.
