## Description

Pigeon Bay Boating Club is a community yacht and sailing club on the sheltered, non-tidal waters of Pigeon Bay, on Banks Peninsula, New Zealand. Founded in 1962, the club welcomes sailors of all experience levels and boat types, including dinghies, multihulls, trailer yachts and keelers. It is located about an hour and twenty minutes from Christchurch and twenty minutes from Akaroa.

The club offers a full weekend sailing programme, with regular races, trophy events and seasonal championships run using the Mark Foy handicap system. Rescue boats support sailing, and small club yachts are available for people who would like to try the sport. Facilities include a clubhouse, wharf, spacious sheltered rigging area and a two-lane boat ramp accessible at all tides; the bay also provides good anchoring in a mud-bottomed area. Regular social gatherings complement the sailing calendar, and nearby accommodation includes a campground and holiday stays. Affiliated with Yachting New Zealand, the club shares its programme and sailing instructions and uses VHF Channel 77 during racing.
