## Description

Pincodez.info is an India-focused location identity and addressing platform that organizes postal and administrative information into a machine-readable directory. Its dataset connects states and union territories, districts, sub-districts, post offices, PIN codes, geographic coordinates, and DIGIPIN records. The platform covers 19,300 PIN codes, 157,126 post offices, and 737 districts across 36 states and union territories.

Users can search and browse locations, explore administrative divisions, and filter postal data by state, district, and entity type. The address validator checks whether a six-digit PIN code exists, flags state or district mismatches, and assesses delivery-beat coverage. A separate DIGIPIN tool supports encoding coordinates and decoding geographic bounding boxes using India’s 10-character hierarchical grid standard, developed by the Department of Posts and IIT Hyderabad.

For developers, Pincodez.info provides REST API documentation, an OpenAPI 3.0 specification, and Model Context Protocol server support. Filtered dataset extracts are available for download in CSV or JSON. The site says its data is compiled and normalized from India Post and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj under the Government Open Data License.
