Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community (PSC) is a brand that is dedicated to uniting communities and creating positive social impact in the city through the global game of soccer. Founded in December 2004 by James Meara and Mark Taylor, PSC aims to provide children in at-risk communities in Pittsburgh with access to tuition-free soccer programs and lifestyle skills. For over 17 years, PSC has worked in numerous communities in the Greater Pittsburgh area, serving over 3,000 children.
They have provided free educational soccer programming in various locations including Braddock, Dormont, East Hills, East Liberty, Garfield, Hazelwood, Homestead, Homewood, Lawrenceville, Northview Heights, Oakland, and Wilkinsburg. PSC has partnered with organizations such as Auberle, Glade Run, Safety Kids, Salvation Army, and YMCA to deliver their programs. In addition to soccer programs, PSC also offers lifestyle education seminars in collaboration with groups like the Boy Scouts of America, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Pittsburgh Division, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pennsylvania National Guard, and the Office of the Mayor for the City of Pittsburgh.
By partnering with various organizations including PA West Soccer Association, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Allegheny Juvenile Court, and many others, PSC continues to make a significant impact in the community.
