## Description

Platte County Prevention, also known as Platte County CARES, is a community coalition of professionals and citizens working to create a healthier, safer, and more resilient Platte County. Its mission is to prevent the misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, and other drugs, while promoting mental health and suicide prevention. The coalition uses an evidence-based approach to identify local prevention needs and bring together available resources.

Its work includes community education, outreach, advocacy, and collaboration. Prevention campaigns provide information on underage drinking, adult alcohol overconsumption, marijuana, vaping and tobacco, and suicide prevention. The coalition also supports public action and policies that fund effective prevention, reduction, and intervention programs; addresses community risk and protective factors; and helps residents understand substance use and suicide concerns.

Platte County Prevention connects people with relevant resources and information, including Wyoming 211, which can assist with food, job training, rent, utility assistance, and other needs.
