## Description

PlatyWiki, also known as the Platycerium Encyclopedia, is a non-profit, community-edited knowledge resource created by staghorn fern enthusiasts. Its purpose is to bring together detailed information about Platycerium for people who grow, collect, and study these plants. Because cultivated plants include many hybrids, mutations, and forms with varied horticultural names, tracing their identities and histories can be difficult. PlatyWiki helps users record, search, and share information about individual varieties and plants.

Visitors can search existing entries, create new pages when information is missing, and correct or expand content. The site encourages contributors to verify details, follow consistent naming and page-formatting practices, and preserve names that support a plant’s history and traceability. It also provides guidance based on international cultivated plant naming rules, including recommendations for cultivar names. Administrators monitor edits, while users are asked to keep contributions accurate, neutral, and respectful. PlatyWiki does not present itself as a commercial business; it is a shared information project maintained for the staghorn fern community.
