## Description

Plurabelle Paddlers is Ireland’s first breast cancer dragon boat club and a registered charity based at Grand Canal Dock in Dublin. Founded in 2010 by Fiona Tiernan, the club was inspired by the international breast cancer dragon boat movement. Following treatment for a recurrence of breast cancer, Tiernan took up fitness as a way to support her health and established the club to offer others an opportunity to do the same.

The club welcomes people who have finished breast cancer treatment and provides a supportive setting to become active through dragon boating. Originating in China, the sport offers upper-body exercise and can be taken up at any age; Plurabelle Paddlers notes that its members began as newcomers to the activity. The organisation also shares information about its work through videos, podcasts, news and events, and provides FAQs and contact details for those interested in learning more. New-member try-outs are currently paused while the club manages its waiting list, with reopening hoped for later in 2026.
