## Description

PLUSontwerp is a Dutch education-focused design and advisory practice founded in 2004 by Esther Dekhuijzen, a designer specialising in change processes in education. It supports schools with maintenance, renovation, relocation and new construction, developing practical spatial solutions that reflect user needs, fit the available budget and aim for sustainable implementation. Its work primarily serves primary and secondary education, with additional experience in Technasium programmes, multimedia, natural learning, vocational pathways, and special and ZML education.

PLUSontwerp combines interior design with independent consultancy. Services span spatial planning, building finishes and installations, furnishings, and graphic design. The practice also prepares spatial programmes of requirements, advises on relocation and guides school teams through building projects and educational innovation. Its “Eigen Wijze” approach helps teams translate educational ambitions into feasible layouts and everyday use through relationship diagrams, concept floor plans, discussions and workshops. These activities can involve school leaders, staff teams and pupils. Projects range from designing a new wing to renewing a single room on a limited budget, with solutions tailored to each school’s situation.
