## Description

Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is a nonprofit biomedical research institute that believes intellectual freedom drives medical breakthroughs. Founded in 1956 by Dr. William Hutchinson in Seattle, Washington, PNRI provides a space for forward-thinking scientists to tackle the most difficult problems in science and medicine. At PNRI, our scientists use innovative approaches to conduct foundational science in genetics, which we believe is essential for understanding human health and disease. We believe that scientific breakthroughs are often found at the intersection of multiple scientific disciplines, which is why collaboration is highly valued at PNRI. Our mission is to explore how the human body remains healthy despite genetic risks and environmental hazards. By daring to ask different questions, such as What keeps us healthy?, we aim to uncover preventive measures against diseases. In our labs, we focus on systems and the interactions between genes, as well as the role of non-coding parts of our genetic material. Through our groundbreaking work and thought-provoking questions, we strive to create a healthier future for all humans. Discover more about our innovative research in our seven labs and join us in our mission to improve human health.
