Poetry International is a passionate advocate for poetry, whether it originates from the Netherlands or the global community. Our mission is to share the art of poetry with wide and diverse audiences, fostering connections between poets, translators, and poetry enthusiasts both on stage and online. Since 1970, Poetry International Festival has brought top international poets to Rotterdam, complemented by our online Poetry Archives showcasing poets worldwide. The prestigious C. Buddingh’ Prize is awarded annually for the best Dutch-language poetry debut. Our poet in residence program provides a safe haven for poets facing challenges in their home countries. We engage with schools through workshops like Spraakzaam Rotterdam and offer educational opportunities through Poetry Academy. The city of Rotterdam even features poetry on municipal vehicles through "Het gedicht is een bericht," spreading verses throughout the community. Join us in celebrating the power of poetry!
