## Description

The Poetry Society of America is the nation’s oldest poetry organization, founded in 1910. It connects readers and writers with poetry through a range of publications, programs, events, and awards. Its Poems & Essays section features poetry and related writing, including poems presented through initiatives such as Poems on Wheels. The organization also offers programs including Poetry in Motion NYC, which brings poetry into public spaces, and Park Poems, which pairs poems with locations such as Madison Square Park. Its offerings include the Chapbook Fellowship, annual awards, and Poem District, alongside events and other poetry-focused activities. Visitors can explore poems, essays, resources, and information about the society’s work, or sign up for its newsletter to receive updates. The Poetry Society of America also invites supporters to become members or donate, and operates a shop. Through these varied offerings, it provides opportunities to encounter poetry, take part in its programs, and support the continued presence of poetry in public and cultural life.
