# Pohjois-Savon Diabetes - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `pohjoissavondiabetes.fi` ## Description Pohjois-Savon Diabetes ry is a regional diabetes association serving people with diabetes and their families across much of Finland’s North Savo region, excluding Iisalmi and Kiuruvesi. With more than 1,300 members, it works to connect people affected by diabetes, encourage peer support, share information about diabetes and its prevention, and help members with self-care and the prevention of complications. The association also advocates for the interests of people with diabetes in its area. Its activities include local clubs and regular gatherings in communities throughout the region, as well as exercise sessions, bowling, excursions, lectures and social events. Families with children or young people who have diabetes can join a family group that offers shared activities and peer connection. The association also provides access to trained peer supporters, who offer confidential conversations, calls, email support and meetings for people with diabetes and their relatives.
