## Description

Pokrajinski muzej Celje is a regional museum in Celje, Slovenia, regarded as the country’s second-oldest museum. Its collections trace the area’s history from prehistory to the early 20th century and are displayed across two historic venues: the Princely Palace and the Old Counts’ Mansion. The museum presents permanent, temporary, outdoor and online exhibitions, connecting visitors with the people, archaeology and heritage of the region.

Highlights include “Counts of Celje,” exploring the rise and fall of the influential medieval noble family; “Alma M. Karlin: Journeys,” about the Celje-born world traveller and writer; and “Celeia – A City Beneath the City,” an archaeological display of Roman remains preserved in situ beneath the Princely Palace. Visitors can also discover exhibitions about Veronika of Desenice and explore the museum’s collections and publications.

The museum offers guided tours, public programmes, school activities and creative workshops for children. It also provides visitor information, educational resources, museum publications and merchandise. Through exhibitions and events, Pokrajinski muzej Celje shares the region’s history with local communities and visitors.
