About

Description

Polly-O Cheese, established in New York in 1899, has been crafting exceptional cheeses using traditional Italian methods for over a century. Our story began when Giuseppe Pollio, our founder, immigrated to America from Italy in the late 1890s. Starting from his home in Long Island, Giuseppe's handcrafted cheese quickly gained popularity among Americans hungry for high-quality cheese.

In 1899, Giuseppe and his son, Albert, opened Pollio Latticini, an Italian Deli Store that became a local favorite. As the brand grew, so did the need for a new logo, as the name Pollio sounded similar to the polio epidemic that plagued America. That's when Polly the Parrot and our beloved brand, Polly-O, were born.

The cheese-making traditions continued to thrive, and in 1938, Polly-O's present plant in Campbell, New York, was completed. Today, Polly-O is under the care of BelGioioso Cheese Inc., a renowned producer of award-winning specialty cheeses made in the U. S.

A. We are proud to operate the dedicated Polly-O plant in Campbell, New York, following the same time-honored techniques for over 50 years. While honoring the Polly-O tradition, we also bring innovation to create seriously good cheese.

Our partnership with BelGioioso adds depth to the Polly-O family, and we've resurrected Polly the Parrot as a whimsical nod to our beginnings. With a century's worth of hand-crafted values, Polly-O delivers cheeses that make a real difference. One bite of our cheese, and you'll know the true meaning of quality that lasts forever
