The Port Lorne and District Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated and vital emergency response team located in the fishing village of Port Lorne, Nova Scotia. Established in October 1976, the Department was created to enhance emergency services in the Annapolis Valley by reducing response times and improving life and property-saving efforts. With a growing membership and a commitment to staying up-to-date with modern technology, the PLVFD boasts a fleet that includes a 2007 pumper, 2012 tanker, and a 2018 rescue unit.

As an active contributor to fire and emergency protection, prevention, and education, the PLVFD covers not only its local communities of Port Lorne, St. Croix Cove, Mount Rose, Outram, and parts of Cottage Cove/Cape and Sand Beach, but also offers assistance to other fire departments in the Annapolis Valley when called upon. With a strong focus on adapting to change and maintaining excellence, the PLVFD is dedicated to providing aid and support to anyone facing an emergency situation
